Why aren't the Lorehold spirits artifact creatures? | tcgmode

This is a question that has bothered me since Strixhaven back in 2021. I know that the art can sometimes be misleading, but there is a clear consistency in how these spirits are portrayed: they are always shown as "possessed" terracotta statues. I wanted to know if there is an in-lore explanation...
