Rules question for Scrooge - Reformed Ebenezer | tcgmode

Is the Spreading Joy ability all or none? Say I didn't want to burn so many cards to essentially boost each character I had in play, and only wanted the Ward for 1 or 2 of them; could I just put a card under those ones, or would I have to put a card under every character?
