Is "attach" and "equip" different? | tcgmode

New player here and i bought the assassins creed starter set 🫡 Both cards say attach to a creature but also have a cost to equip, is that the same thing? Or do you attach it to the mentioned creature (does it get the equipped ability then??) and when that creature dies you can equip it? 😅 Thank...
